Worcestershire Freemasons £250 donation sponsored the purchase of 40m of fabric, which translated into 240 hats.
The YOLO Solo Club Scrub Hat making project members have been hard at work with fabric, thread, elastic and the patterns for scrub hats that were made by a 43 strong team.
Emma Cobb-Webb, Founder said, "We have supported Covid-19 Wards across the country, where nurses and doctors were using plastic bags as head coverings to protect themselves. Hats are a discretionary item of uniform, not in standard supply. A set of three hats allows for a change whilst on shift, plus also a spare so each staff member felt safe that they were covered at a time that PPE has been scarce. “Hats with hugs” has been our motto. The emphasis of this project was to provide an outlet for people who wanted to help the efforts but were unable to make full sets of scrubs. This project has given an activity with a purpose and something for people to pace at their own level which I know has been a great boost to their mental well being at this time of turbulence."
