Severn Lodge's Picnic In The Park - Including The 'Golden Mile'
Sunday 28 April at 2pm, Memorial Park, Lickhill Road
WM Lee Taylor writes as follows:
Spring is definitely on the way and it’s now time to be thinking of outdoor activities and especially the Masonic Picnic in the Park. Put the date in your diary now!
The venue is the beautiful Memorial Park at Lickhill – the perfect setting for Masons to bring along their families, seats and blankets, to have a perfect spring afternoon in the sunshine.
It’s not just any ordinary picnic however – you have the opportunity to buy a cream tea and other items, with all the proceeds going to the Festival 2022 fund! This is served in the Lickhill Community Centre, which will act as a useful haven if it rains!
However, the main event of the day is the Golden Mile. At 3pm a whistle will sound. All competitors taking part in this challenge will line up at the starting line. You can be as long or as quick as you like to complete the two laps of the park, which equates to one mile.
The challenge is to do this in the most inventive and fun way possible! Maybe with your children or grandchildren on their bikes, go around in a wheelbarrow (it is flat!) walk it backwards or just walk it in fancy dress. I’ll be doing it on my crutches, I reckon!
The entrance fee is £5 with all proceeds again going to the 2022 fund. It’s just a bit of fun, but the benefits will be enormous for the chosen charities. You could even get personal sponsorship in addition to swell the coffers.
I look forward to your company - let’s get as many people as possible there for a great day!
