Provincial 'Festival' Male Voice Choir
The Provincial Choir received a very encouraging show of interest, over 30 Brethren replying to the R.W.Provincial Grand Master's Circular.
An inaugural meeting held at Northfield Masonic Hall on 3 April plans for the event were discussed and finalised.
A concert will be staged at Kidderminster Town Hall on Saturday the 24 October 2020 consisting of 10 Male Voice Choir items , a Barber Shop Quartet performance and a Soprano Soloist, who will perform at least one item with the Choir.
We are indeed fortunate to have acquired the services of a very experienced and accomplished Male Voice Musical Director, W.Bro.Phil Ratcliffe, who was the Musical Director of the famous Croydon Male Voice Choir for many years. He will be working in conjunction with our own Provincial Choir Master, W.Bro. Tim Morris, on what promises to be a very exciting event. We are also very pleased to have the services of W.Bro.Adrian Leopard, who has agreed to act as accompanist to the choir.
We have decided, with the kind permission of the R.W.Provincial Grand Master, that rehearsals will be held at the Community Room at Ellard Hanson Court. The Management Committee Chairman at Moseley Masonic Hall, W.Bro.Bill Sherlock, has also kindly allowed us to borrow their spare piano for our rehearsals.
Several Brethren have approached me to say that they would love to have taken part in the Choir, but as many of them do not read music, feel this would preclude them. Nothing could be further from the truth. Anyone is very welcome to join the choir. We have many alternative methods to teach people the songs without the need for music (CD's, USB's and website facilities with the various parts included to name but a few). They were also worried that their voices would not be good enough to take part, or that they don't know which vocal range their voice would suit. Don't worry, we can teach ANYONE to sing and we will determine which part of the Choir your voice will be suitable for. Therefore, if you know someone who is interested but not sure, bring them along to a rehearsal.
We are hoping to hold rehearsals on a two weekly basis, alternating the nights so that everyone has the opportunity to attend as often as they can. The next Rehearsal will be held on Wednesday the 29th May at 7.30, at Ellard Hanson Court.
