"I thought I'd give it a goo!"
W Bro Peter Feldgate abseils down the Orbit Tower
W.Bro Peter Felgate, Charity Steward of Severn Lodge No 5583 writes:
"Having been the Charity Steward or the last 2 years at Severn Lodge I’d been looking for an opportunity actually to generate some funds myself rather than just administrating everyone else’s efforts."
"I’d done an abseil off a water tower many years ago before I’d moved to the Midlands in Essex and when I found you could abseil off the Orbit Tower which just happens to be next door to the home of my team West Ham I thought I’d ‘give it a goo’ as they say in the Midlands."
"My wife and daughter brought me the experience as a Christmas present and I started fund raising in February with the faint hope of achieving £1,000, but with the incredible generosity of Masons including the PGM, my Friends, Family, Suppliers & Customers as of today my total including Gift Aid has just exceeded £1,850.00!"
"At 262 feet It’s pretty scary going over the edge but it felt incredibly safe and it’s a case of ‘enjoy the views’ on the way down."
"Thank you so much to everyone that has made this adventure so worthwhile"
